How to Apply
Students should contact their high school guidance counselor in the fall of their sophomore year. Program staff travel to area target high schools and provide information meetings to students and parents during the month of October. Applications and program brochures are provided at the information meetings in target schools.
The Process
Applications should be returned to your guidance counselor who will complete a recommendation form and add your transcript and testing records prior to mailing the packets back to UB. A review committee will process and evaluate your application and then call your guidance counselor to schedule an interview for eligible applications. All applicants are notified in writing of the outcome of the application process. Students who are offered provisional acceptance must attend an orientation session. All new students will receive a 60-day review of their academic performance, college/career goals and motivation to determine if they will be offered a position in the Upward Bound program.
