How to Apply
Students should contact their high school guidance counselor in the fall of the sophomore year. Program staff travel to area target high schools and provide informational meetings to students and parents during the month of October. Applications and program brochures are provided at the informational meetings in target schools.
Completed applications should be returned to your guidance counselor. Your guidance counselor will complete a recommendation form and add your transcripts and testing records prior to mailing the packet back to UB. A review committee will process and evaluate your application and then call your guidance counselor to schedule an interview for potential participants. All applicants are notified in writing of the outcome of the application process. Students who are offered a position in the program must attend an orientation session. All new students will receive a 60-day review of their academic performance, college/career goals and motivation to determine if they will be offered a permanent position in the Upward Bound program.
